
Getting Started with Ice Skating
Ice skating is very much a hands on repetition skill that you learn over time. Even if you have yet to take your first step on the ice or have had a very long hiatus from the ice with time, practice, and willingness to learn the right techniques, you will find yourself gliding across the ice in no time. Learning how to ice skate can be easy and a lot of fun, Fining the right class to meet you needs will help you achieve your goals and dreams.

Step 2: Find a Learn to Skate USA® program to join. We recommend signing up for the Learn to Skate classes through South Davis Recreation Center.

3. Join the Utah Figure Skating Club! Perform in shows, compete in competitions, and test through the US Figure Skating levels.

Ice Skating options for Beginners
Snowplow Sam (Ages 3 - 5)
Snowplow Sam
The Snowplow Sam levels are introductory classes divided into four progressive levels allowing children with no prior skating experience to build confidence while learning the basic skills of skating. These classes are designed to help children six and younger develop the ABC’s of movement-Agility, Balance, Coordination and speed. The ABC’s are essential for developing fundamental movement skills and physical literacy. All classes will be taught in a safe and positive environment, incorporating fun and games making class time an enjoyable experience for all.
